Okay, so I realize my last D.A. project was kinuva a flop, but I've got another idea that I hope people will like. I haven't really done anything yet, 'cept some brainstorming, so this is more of an interest gauge to see what my friends think of this idea.
Basically, the idea is a multi-artist calendar. Pretty much just try to get a bunch of people to submit art for each month, then have the community at large vote for the ones they like the best.
Some general rules I was considering:
-Original art only, no licensed characters and such
-I'd probably suggest that winners of one month not submit for other months, just to diversify the calendar. Possibly, if an artist really wanted to try for another month, they'd have to win by a landslide (like 60-70%, depending on the number of entries) to get in. Otherwise, the next highest would get it. After all, the main point is to get a diverse sampling of art...
-Probably stick with one type of art (i.e. anime, photographs, etc) just to keep things simple.
-I'd put the calendar up for sale on DA. Proceeds would first go towards any costs associated with the project (i.e. i'd try to make sure each artist gets a free copy of the calendar), any thing left over would go to a charitable cause of the community's choosing. I'm not trying to profit off this idea.
If I start up something like this, would anyone be interested in helping? I think part of the reason that ~
TheOnePageManga didn't last long is because I tried to do too much myself and tired myself out. I'd probably be looking to recruit some admin-types and some people to help advertise the project (another thing that my other project didn't do too well).
I'd want to start pretty soon. There's only 2 months til New Years, which would obviously be the best time to have the calendar done by, but that might not be possible.
Anyway, let me know what you think. I dunno if someone's done something like this before, so I don't know how well it would work, but I'm willing to give it a try...
